Rtn MPHF Captain Mathews & Rtne Alice Mathews

Born on 12th March 1946, this dynamic rotary leader is a multifaceted personality.

This Post Graduate in Economics served the Indian Army for over 10 years with distinction. His injury during 1971 Indo Pak. War forced him to retire from his service to the motherland.

He had acted in a dozen movies and a few of them getting him great recognition for his cameo rolling.

Currently he heads Nishant Engineering Industry and ESM Enterprises. Nishant Engineering is manufacturing air compressors and textile machinery spares, general engineering products and metallurgical services. ESM Enterprises is into blow moulding of bottles and filling of coconut oil on behalf of Marico Industries Ltd. – a leading manufacture of coconut oil in India.

He has served Rotary in various capacities both at the club level and the District level. Some of the projects which stand out during his term as Club President during the year 1992-93 include Projects on safe drinking water and sanitation, literacy, health care and vocational training. He has served the District continuously from the year 1994 till date as District Chairman, Director of various avenues of service.

In the year 2000-2001, he was given two distinguished assignments, one as the Assistant Governor and other as the GSE Team Leader.

His visit to Germany as the GSE Team Leader helped in promoting Indian Culture and Religion and brought about international understanding between District 1820 and Dist. 3200. In the year 2001-02, when he served as the Dist. Chairman Annual giving, he motivated his home club to become a 100% PHF Club.

This Multiple Paul Harris Fellow has motivated many a Rotarian to contribute generously to TRF.

He is an acclaimed Rotary faculty and his training skills have been made use of by the District Training Team on various occasions.

His business has given him an opportunity to set foot on most of the European nations. His last visit to USA gave him an opportunity to attend the RI convention at Los Angeles.

He is happily married to Rtne Alice and blessed with three daughters and a son. Inspite of all these busy activities he still finds time for his favorite hobbies, which includes, reading dramatics and music.

A brave solder, charismatic film star, a straightforward businessman, a loving husband, a responsible father, a globe trotter and a true Rotarian all rolled into one is Rotarian Captain Mathews.
